Day 13

Athens. The ferry ride took longer than we thought. Maybe because the sea was super rough. All of us woke up in intervals and felt the ferry rock like it was a little fishermans boat. Super scary! We arrived at 6 am in Athens. Luckilly the subway was already open and our timing was perfect as the train was waiting for us to get on. Just before 7 we got off at Monastiraki station and had to walk the rest of way to our hostel. You'd think that it wouldn't be that hot that early in the morning.. We had to stop for cool drink half way. We finally got to the hostel and passed out on our beds till 11 o' clock and ordered some bacon and eggs to start the day off.

We didn't have much to do on the last day so we took to the streets for some more shopping. We managed to fit in a late lunch with fried haloumi, stuffed tomatoes and mousaka :)

Packing to go home didn't go so well and took longer than expected. The process was also a bit delayed cause we started drinking Smirnoff North shots...

All in all it was a great holiday with great friends! We are already planning our next trip. Love julle girlies xx

Day 12

Our last day on the islands. Melinda has been appointed as our sun coach and had a whole tanning schedule for us. We had to make the most of our last day in the sun :)

We packed all our stuff and checked out and waited next to the pool until it was time to go to the port to catch the ferry to Athens. We went down about two hours before deparute time to have a late lunch at the port.

The ferry was a lot bigger than last time. I'm pretty sure they can fit more than 500 pax on the ship. It was humongous. We rushed onto the ferry with all the other people, looking like a bunch of sheep and found ourselves a great spot to hang for the next 9 hours. The ferry was full of young people drinking beer and playing guitar, such a nice vibe - one that made you almost forget that you were on the way home.

Day 11

Gizella and Melinda spent the majority of the day next to the pool working really hard on their tans. I got picked up to go down to mylopotas beach to go diving. Seeing that I haven't done it in such a long time I decided it was wise to start with a shore dive. The actual dice was only 35 minutes and 6m deep. A nice little refresher. Things started off a bit wobbly as the instructors were all gorgeous and they all watched me as I tried to get myself into a wet wetsuit. My bcd was to big for me and made me fall over the whole time. So embarressing, there I was trying to look like a professional diver and I couldn't even stand up straight.

Waves are not a familiar happening at that beach and as Murphy will have it the day I go diving the waves are so big surfers would have a ball. It was a bit of a mission but I got in all right. Under the water things were also a bit messy because I kept falling around with my big BCD. We saw an octopus and a parrot fish. It was also really filthy under the water. All I could see was sand, bottles, wrappers and nets. It was not the best experience ever but atleast I got the chance to dive a little bit.

Ios is known as the all night party island and apparently some off the clubs only open at 03:00. We decided to check out the night life in Ios. Started the night of with dinner and shopping and then went for cocktails at Stella's. I met Stella at the dive centre earlier that day and she invited us over for drinks. She has a gorgeous little bar in Chora.

We popped into disco 69 before heading home and got stuck there for a short while. The bar/club can probably only take about 100 people but it felt like they squashed in 300 people. Nevertheless it was great fun and the perfect way to end off the island part of our trip.

Day 10

Ios. We nearly missed our ferry to Ios as we couldn't find a single taxi on the island of Santorini to take us to the port. Eventually a very nice Greek man offered to take us in his very small car. Turns out this guy is the publisher of a popular magazine in Santorini. Celeb lift, yeah!

We made our ferry just in time and cruised off to Ios. At that stage we weren't sure if we even had accommodation on the island yet.

We arrived on the island of Ios dying of heat. Luckily there was a guy waiting for us at the port to take us to our hotel. We arrived at a gorgeous white building with the bluest swimming pool. We immediately switched on the aircon in our room, threw on our costumes and went to lounge around the pool.

Just before sunset we went down to the port to go grocery shopping and spent the rest of the evening chilling in our room and doing our nails :)

Day 9

Perissa beach. We awoke very late once again. It was another gorgeous day on the island. We went to Perissa beach to work on our tans. Our massage dude from last time was there again and we briefly chatted to him. The rest of the day we spent next to our pool drinking cocktails and swimming.

We had to end Santorini on a high note so we decided to watch the sunset in Oia while we had dinner and afterwards we went to Murphy's for happy hour. We ended up in Tropica Bar with Nenad and one of his friends and Melinda and I ended the night off with a dance on the bar :)

On the way home we stopped at the bakery and bough pizza for the long walk home.

Day 8

We had a great lie in and then immediately moved out and got settled next to the pool for a few hours. After a traditional greek lunch we took a drive to Kamari beach where we rented sun loungers to work on our tans. Another tough day in paradise. :)

Lunch was at our favourite fava restaurant and then we went shopping and stopped for ouzo shots. We had to even buy more suitcases to get everything home!

For the first time on the holiday we took the night off to relax, chill and downloaded all our pictures. Ons almal lyk soos krewe!

Day 7

Santorini. We overslept slightly and had like 20 minutes to pack all our stuff, check out, pay the hostel and pick up Melinda's plane ticket. Vasi (sweetheart) came to pick us up and took us to the airport. We just made it.

The flight to Santorini was painless and only 45 minutes long. We arrived in super santorini and decided to hire a car. Its just too hot to walk from bus station to bus station with all our luggage. A little spoilt I know but what the hell you only live once. We got a little peugot and made our way to the camping grounds. Surprisingly we found the place immediately. It was like we were there only yesterday.

We checked in and went to inspect our dorm room. Not bad, luckily nobody was booked into our 8 bedroom dorm.

Melinda has never been to Santorini so Giz and I went to show her around. We took a drive through Fira and then went up to Firastephani, where we bumped into Ari. At first he didn't recognize us but soon enough remembered.

Next we went looking for Nenad. It was so cute how excited he was to see us. It didn't feel like 8 months have passed since we last saw him. We went to our favourite restaurant on the caldera cliffs, Zapora for their chef's lamb special. Delish!

By the end of the day we were all exhausted of all the walking and the heat and decided to cool down in the pool with cocktails.

We ended off the perfect day in an Irish pub, murphy's with lots of cocktail specials and a pizza for the road back home. Lekkeste padkos ooit!
