Christmas in Korea

Merry Christmas!!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas! Christmas in Korea was different but great. I missed my family and the beach a lot, but nevertheless had a great time!

Salome and I went to Cheongju for the weekend to visit Leanne and Jonathan. Cheongju is a lot colder than Busan (because it is up north) so we hoped for a white Christmas. We arrived in Cheongju at 8 on Christmas eve and immediately went to the shopping centre for some Christmas goodies.

Once we got home we unpacked and arranged all the gifts around the tree. We had A LOT of presents!! AWESOME!

The rest of the night we spent preparing food for the next day and just chilling. After wishing everyone a Merry Christmas at 12 o' clock we were allowed to open one gift each. Our secret santa gifts in the stockings on the wall. This was just a little taste of what was to come the next morning. I got a Spongebob calender, box of chocolates and earmuffs from Jonathan.

Christmas morning we started opening presents immediately ofcourse. Jonathan treated us with some starbucks coffee, which helped us to wake up and Salome made some breakfast. Buns with real cheese, jummy!!!

It was strange not going to Church on Christmas. We had so many presents to get through! I opened one that my parents sent and it was really strange, because it was just a bear. Then I realised that you have to press its hand. O MY WORD, tears!!!! My mom and dad's voice came out of the bear and wished me a Merry Christmas. Needless to say the three girls started crying immediately! It was unbelievably special! Thanks parentals!! They built the bear themselves and then recorded my message.

After opening all the gifts we jumped through the shower and dressed (Christmas outfits) and started with the food.

We had: filled potatoes, gammon, chicken and veggies with cheese. For starters we had a cream soup with bread.

Desert is a whole other story. It was amazing! We had doughnuts, 2 cakes, chocolate mouse and a portugese dish that i forgot the name of.

We had a family photo shoot as well:

After a long day of celebrations, Jonathan looked out of the window and screamed: GUYS IT'S SNOWING!!! Please note, this was at 2 am in the morning! Technically it does count as a white Christmas because it was still Christmas in SA. It was amazing, all of us got dressed very quickly and ran outside with our camera's! There wasn't enough snow to make snow angels, but we played around. It was the first time I have ever been in snow and made the day unforgettable!
