It took us 24 hours in transit to get to Greece, but damn it was totally worth it. Greece is AMAZING!! From Athens airport we took the bus to Syntagma Square and got off in the pouring rain. Luckily a very nice (and good looking) taxi driver spotted us standing in the rain and looking hopeless. He offered to take us to our hostel - the fee was quite reasonable, so score! Adriano even walked us to the hostel. We invited him for drinks after work - we decided to paint Greece red every chance we get.
We stayed at Student and Travelers Inn, which is a really nice place, recommend by Lonely Planet and all. We befriended the reception dude, Alex. Big help, cause our direction isn't very good. He insisted we take a triple room cause it was just to weird for him to give us one double bed :) I told him Gizella was my girlfriend and it made him very uncomfortable. It was funny though.
For dinner we missioned around in the small little streets surrounding the hostel. We found a cute little family owned taverna right on our door step and immediately ordered delicious looking Greek cuisine. We tried the tzatziki, grilled feta, fried haloumi, fresh bread and a huge greek salad. JUM! The waiters and owner liked us so much they gave us free Ouzo (Trad. greek alcohol) shots and later invited us into the bar.
They said: "This is Greece, you drink free."
We thought: AWESOME!
In the bar we tasted Smirnoff North which is a delicious little shot that taste like summer. Greece is a magical awesome place!! Adriano and his friend joined us for a drink and a few more shots and then we called it a night and retired to our triple room.
