December 2010
This year was my first Christmas vacation in Onrus that wasn't about a month long. Normally when Christmas and New Years comes along the holiday is already over. This year I worked till Christmas eve and headed to Onrus for a week's holiday.
Even though it was really short it was a great break! The weather was horrible, it felt more like a winter vacation, but luckily I got to spend lots of time with family and friends and enjoyed every second of it.
Christmas was great! Our whole family spent it together and the weather for that day was nice. We had a great outside lunch and went to the beach afterwards just to lay around.
Just before New Years a few of my friends joined me and we counted down the days to the big party. Every year we have a party on our back lawn with a braai and a few drinking games. Always great fun. This year didn't dissapoint. Is dissapoint a word? Anyways as you might/might not know, on the 1st of Jan each year we have our Potjie kos day at our house and this year was a great success. We had 14 potjies and the weather was also great, so we were able to cook out side and chill with friends in my cousin's little pool whilst waiting for the food.
The younger participants cleaned out this year. I came fourth, Kobus (my brother's friend) came third, tannie Christa second and my cousin, Estelle came first! Their potjie really deserved to win - it was delicious! Their theme was ARABOER. For the english speaking folks: It's a farmers pot with an arabic twist. Excuse the english if it doesn't make sense - I'm still in a holiday mood. Check out the photies and come and join us next year!
Have a wonderful 2011 and do as much as possible! As for me - I'm going to try and make it an active year. Number one on the list - Sky diving. I might be going at the end of the month with a bunch of friends. Let me know if you've done it before, I'm VERY scared! xx
